Tearing Art is the expression of the destruction and creation both at the same time. In destroying canvas, I am creating new art. Beyond the physical destruction of the canvas, ideas of society are being destroyed in order to create new ideas of society. The canvas represents the old social idioms, while the new twisted canvas represents the new order of social expressions and values.
The present society calls for a certain protocol. My passion, my spirit, and my heart desire to change this protocol.
Black Hole series portrays the human hearts desire to express itself independently from societal references. As a policeman in Korea, I have seen life and death circumstances which could have evolved differently. If these victims were allowed to express their feelings of frustration and overwhelming circumstances, they would not need to end their precious life.
The Waves of Modern Changee expresses the environmental changes of our habitats. As rural areas become urbanized, our living environment becomes more technological and less natural. We lose the sense of being part of earth. Your identity gravitates more toward the individual ego than towards the group cultural consciousness. We must continue to acknowledge our basic human consciousness despite our different individual identities.
Changeeand Echoes contains the notion that the law of cause and effect can change a person completely around. You never know where you will end up. In the paintings twisted background of canvas, one can see the Chinese calligraphy of Confucius. These Confucian proverbs state: No matter where your Karma is in the present, you are being lead to a higher truth; Forgive yourself for your past indiscretions and trust your intentions; Realize you own goodness; Do your best.
I appreciate your perspective and opinion.
